This is a new strategic vision role to help meet the national NHS Green Plan & Net-Zero agenda. The post holder will be the specialist lead responsible for developing & driving forward the Trust’s Energy Management, buildings decarbonisation in line with the NHS Sustainability & Net-Zero & Trust’s Estates & Facilities Strategies. They will bring specialist skills & expertise to improve the Trust’s buildings energy performance & meet local & national energy saving & carbon reduction targets as well as ensuring the cost-effective purchase of utility supplies to ensure the Trust operates within the defined Estates operations & energy budget to support the achievement of Living Within Our Means cost saving targets.
The postholder will lead complex Estates energy-related operations & manage by bringing strong skills & judgement to integrate the Trust’s energy efficiency, energy management & decarbonisation (Net-zero Sustainability) objectives around the optimisation & effectiveness of the Trust Estate. They will be expected to liaise with a wide variety of Trust staff, at all levels, & external organisations & provide specialist knowledge to ensure the effective service delivery of those services related to the environment, energy & sustainability included within Trust Policies, Procedures & Service Level Agreements. Particularly working with the Sustainability Manager & Heads of Estates Development & Facilities to ensure a cohesive approach to energy management & decarbonisation.
• Take a strategic lead on the Estate energy management, utilities and waste.
• Review and oversee all sub metering arrangements, energy contracts, costs, energy use, decarbonisation initiatives and funding to deliver improved energy efficiency, cost savings and carbon reduction.
• Develop and deliver systems to manage, monitor and report Estates performance around Trust buildings energy and utilities performance which require complex technical analysis and assessment to forecast both consumption and prices for a commercial contract.
• Manage all contracts and finances associated with energy, utilities, patient transport, transport and waste management.
• Research and develop ideas and projects to secure necessary external capital funding that helps meet the Trust decarbonisation and carbon reduction targets.
