TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school based in Colchester, and we are seeking a passionate and resilient Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team.

The RoleAs a Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant, you will:
Deliver engaging and structured sports sessions that promote teamwork, resilience, and self-confidence
•
Support students with SEMMH needs both in and out of the classroom
•
Help manage challenging behaviours using positive behaviour strategies
•
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
•
Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support individual learning plans
•
Encourage participation, inclusion, and emotional regulation through physical activity
This role is ideal for candidates from sports coaching, youth work, mentoring, or alternative provision backgrounds.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:Experience working with children or young people (school, coaching, youth work, or similar)

A strong interest in sport, physical education, or mentoring
•
The ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
•
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
•
A proactive and adaptable approach
•
A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
Team Teach training or behaviour management experience is desirable but not essential.
