Crynodeb
Our aim is to deliver multidisciplinary simulation based education and training amongst all subspecialties within the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust focussed on the unique nature and needs of caring for paediatric and peri-natal patients and their families. The BPSP continues to support and develop the use of simulation as a tool in the education of all healthcare professionals, with a particular focus on team training and multi-disciplinary working as well as systems testing. Through establishing simulation expertise within specialties/ departments in BRHC the programme has focused on branching out to develop tailored uni-professional and inter-professional SBE from its base in the Bristol Medical Simulation Centre. In addition the delivery of simulation events within clinical areas (on the wards, in the emergency department and in the operating theatre environment) creates realistic opportunities to practice and develop a wide range of skills such as clinical assessment skills, organizational and time management skills, team working and leadership abilities at the bedside. A strong focus on quality assurance and faculty development underscores the BPSPs strive to reliably deliver high quality SBE. We are committed to growing a multiprofessional faculty base whilst ensuring continued educational development. This is achieved through identifying developmental needs and opportunities tailored to the individual. An apprenticeship model approach is combined with 2 highly acclaimed instructor courses; Train the Trainers Course (Novice Instructors Course) and the Advanced Debriefing Course run internally by UHBW.
