Crynodeb
The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues and the Pathology Services Manager to ensure the efficient running and ongoing development of the haematology service. He/she will be expected to participate in the health authoritys system of governance, and audit and maintain their CME/CPD.He/she will also have a commitment to participate in the health authoritys professional development. The appointee will be expected to observe the health authoritys agreed policies and procedure, drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters, and to follow the standing orders and financial instructions of the GHA. The consultant appointed will have a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge. He/she will undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients and the running of his/her clinical department. Teaching and Research: Undergraduate medical students from different countries come to Gibraltar for their electives. There is active library facility with regular educational meetings planned throughout the academic year. The successful candidate will be encouraged to undertake research in their chosen field of expertise. Assist in continuing education of BMS staff, in conjunction with the departments CPD Officer and other hospital staff. Audit and Clinical Governance: The successful candidate will be expected to take part in the organisation of audit activity in the department and take an active part in the continuing development of our Clinical Governance strategy. The appointee will be expected to participate in CPD activities and participate in appraisals and revalidation as required. To undertake such duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the grade and the needs of the service.
