CARER / PERSONAL CARE ASSISTANT
Reference: DP/JC15
Hours: 4 hours per week (flexible)
Pay: £12.60 per hour
Location: Burtonwood
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, patient, and flexible Personal Care Assistant to support a 15‑year‑old boy who benefits from routine and structure. The role involves encouraging independence, supporting community involvement, and attending activities such as the sensory centre and youth zone. Flexibility is essential, as hours may vary depending on family needs.
Main Duties
Supporting him to develop independence skills (planning activities, completing simple tasks)
Encouraging safety awareness when out in the community
Helping him develop money‑handling skills (budgeting and making purchases)
Supporting his day‑to‑day routines and increasing self‑responsibility
Providing companionship and helping him explore new activities
Offering respite support for the family
Engaging him in outdoor and community activities
Personal Requirements
Essential:
Car owner/driver, honesty, trustworthiness, good manners, good listener, respect for the individual’s wishes, good sense of humour, flexible approach, adaptable communication style
Preferred:
Basic Makaton, activity‑focused approach
Additional Information
A probationary period applies
Enhanced DBS required (funded)
Working hours will be discussed at interview
