Hours: 37 hours per week

About the Client
Somerset Council’s Children’s Social Care service supports vulnerable children and young people across the county. The Children Looked After (CLA) Commissioning Team ensures that children without registered care provision receive safe, appropriate and timely support. This role provides essential administrative and coordination support to ensure placements and staffing are arranged efficiently.
The Role
This temporary role provides vital business support to the CLA Commissioning Team. The postholder will be responsible for coordinating emergency accommodation and staffing arrangements for vulnerable young people, as well as arranging support for children with disabilities when respite is unavailable. The role requires excellent organisational skills, strong communication, and the ability to work collaboratively across Children’s Services and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Booking properties and staffing for vulnerable young people requiring emergency support
Coordinating staffing for children with disabilities when respite is unavailable
Liaising with internal teams and external providers to ensure timely arrangements
Managing workload effectively in a fast‑paced environment
Maintaining accurate records and ensuring clear communication across services
Supporting the wider Children’s Social Care team with administrative tasks as required
Candidate Requirements
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Excellent communication skills and confidence liaising with internal and external partners
Ability to build effective working relationships across Children’s Services
A dedicated team player with the ability to work independently
Previous experience in administrative or coordination roles
Experience within children’s services is beneficial but not essential
