Job Purpose:
• As a member of the leadership team you may be required to act up for short times, completing training if required
• Risk assess and manage a safe learning environment across the whole nursery
• Notify ‘Maintenance’ of any issues or concerns regarding safety and the Director or anything needing immediate attention
• To work under the direction of the Director
• To contribute to weekly schedules for children and staff, ensuring appropriate ratios across the 0-2s
• To manage School Ready for the 0-2s adding new children as necessary
• Be committed to keeping the children safe and always behaving professionally
• Create a supportive, happy culture and a positive behaviour management strategy that enables children to achieve their potential
• To support the family centered ethos, we have created, supporting effective communication
• Lead the Key Workers in your group in being committed to creating trusting and open relationships with parents/carers and children
• Operate in a Key Worker role, observing, assessing and identifying next steps for the children in your care
• Ensure that other staff in the age group are completing required assessments, currently via Tapestry, School Ready and Records of Achievement, monitoring to ensure each child is being observed weekly
• Create a team within your own setting, designating some roles to other senior staff
• Work with the Saplings lead, overseeing and checking the Two Year Old Progress checks – completing or delegating to other key staff as appropriate the required face to face parent/carer meeting
• Monitor Tapestry observations and analyse progress of individual children in the 3 – 4s
• Ensure all children in your group have an accurate picture of their progress on Tapestry, supporting Key Workers where necessary in getting one observation a week minimum
• Lead Termly supervisions, preparing specific questions regarding children’s progress
• Lead the planning and monitoring of the EYFS curriculum to ensure suitable opportunities are provided for the learners in all areas of the curriculum ensuring all staff are contributing
• Follow the Explorers curriculum and support staff in its use
• Ensure two-weekly planning is completed across the setting
• Ensure a variety of experiences and activities are offered to ensure that the Explorers bespoke curriculum is accessible and the diverse needs of learners are met
• Work with colleagues to assess and report on the development and progress of learners to stakeholders
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents/carers, professionals and the wider community to ensure the best experiences for the children
• Ensure the learning environment and the wider nursery is clean
• Ensure the learning environment and the wider nursery is well managed with organized systems
• Put resources away after use, ensuring they are stored appropriately
• Have good timekeeping and organization
• Support the staff team to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop
• To ensure the staffing levels and the balance of competence of staff in the nursery, directing staff where necessary
• To oversee the administration of prescribed medication.
• Be approachable, friendly and able to always communicate effectively
• Respect the confidentiality of sensitive family and nursery information
• Have high standards of professional conduct, representing the nursery in the best possible light
• Direct other members of staff and ensure direction has been followed through
• To maintain an awareness of what is happening across the whole nursery
• To ensure interactions with and communications are always professional
• Maintain staff awareness of the fire evacuation procedures in accordance with the code of practice
• Actively identify and contribute to cleaning, food purchasing, preparation and washing duties ensuring morning and evening checklists are complete as required

• To assist with staff and student development and training
• To support the effective interview and selection process as required
• To fully support the induction of new team members and students
