Inspiring ambition. Celebrating community. Changing futures.
Leeds City Academy is proud to serve one of the most richly diverse communities in Leeds. At the heart of our mission is a deep commitment to building strong, lasting and positive relationships with the families and communities we work alongside. As we strengthen our growing partnership with the Romanian community of Harehills and Chapeltown, we are excited to recruit an inspirational Community Cohesion Leader to help us shape an even brighter future for our young people.
About the Role
As a key member of our Student Culture Team, the GRT (Gypsy, Roma and Traveller) Community Cohesion Leader will take a leading role in driving meaningful, impactful and enduring change for students and families within both the local and school GRT community.
Working in close collaboration with an experienced Vice Principal, our pastoral and student support teams, and our valued community partners at CATCH, you will act as a trusted and respected bridge between the Academy and Romanian families. Your work will champion aspiration, promote success and build a powerful sense of belonging for young people who deserve to feel seen, supported and empowered to thrive.
What You’ll Do
- Build strong, positive and respectful relationships with GRT families and the wider community
- Support students to engage fully in school life, celebrating their identities and ambitions
- Reinforce our Positive Behaviour Policy and champion our six ‘In Partnership’ values
- Provide compassionate, proactive outreach that removes barriers to success
- Advocate for students so they feel valued, confident and able to achieve their full potential.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who is passionate about community, driven to make a difference and committed to supporting young people to flourish both in school and beyond. You will be a role model—someone who leads with empathy, respect and unwavering dedication.
Why Join Us?
At Leeds City Academy, you will be part of a dynamic, inclusive and forward‑thinking team where collaboration is celebrated and every member of staff plays a vital part in our students’ success. This is a powerful opportunity to create lasting change and help shape a brighter future for our GRT community.
Closing Date: Sunday 1st March 2026, 9am
Shortlisting: Monday 2nd March 2026
Interview Date: Thursday 5th March 2026
White Rose Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students and expects all staff and volunteers to share the commitment. Appointments will be subject to Safer Recruitment Procedures and an enhanced DBS check.
Please note this role will involve contact with children and you will be engaging in regulated activity. It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
We promote diversity and want a workforce which reflects the population of Leeds. Applications are welcome from all, irrespective of sex, sexuality, race, religion, marital status, age or disability.
