Summary
Provides high quality clinical care to patients, in line with the trust values and in accordance with professional regulations.
· Accepts delegated responsibility from the Nurse in Charge, for the care of a specific group of patients. Works in line with trust policies, objectives, protocols and local guidelines and in accordance with NMC regulations
· Works as part of a team to provide high quality, evidence based clinical care to patients and their carers.
· Communicates in accordance with trust values at all times with patients, carers and other staff members.
· Undertakes opportunities to develop and expand their nursing skills, acting as a supervisor for Nurse Associates in training, Health Care Support Workers or Nursing students.
· Maintains high standards of professional responsibility and accountability and have an awareness of the ethical and medico-legal aspects of nursing in line with NMC regulations and local guidance.
Work as part of a designated clinical team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the patients and their family.
· Contribute to the planning of care delivery in association with the Registered Nurse. Contribute to ongoing assessments recognising when it is necessary to refer to others for reassessment and action.
· Demonstrate the ability to recognise the changing priorities in both physical and mental health and when to escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice.
· Recognises and effectively responds to emergency situations seeking support from the Registered Nurse in a timely and appropriate manner.
· Implements and evaluates individual care / treatment plans.
· Improve the quality of care by contributing to the continuous monitoring of patients care.
· To accept delegated responsibility from the Registered Nurse to monitor individual plans of care to meet the immediate and on-going needs of patients.
· Undertake a range of agreed clinical skills including venepuncture, routine ECG recording, measure and interpret blood glucose levels
· To be responsible for contributing to the clinical environment which promotes a positive patient experience and care, promoting privacy and dignity at all times.
