Contract: Full-time, long-term supply (Monday-Friday, 08:30-15:30, term-time only)
Daily Rate: £105-£120 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: ASAP

A supportive and well-established SEN High School in Sale is seeking a committed and energetic Sport Teaching Assistant to join their PE department. This full-time position is ideal for someone with a sports coaching background or experience working with young people with additional needs.

About the Role:


You will support students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD and SEMH, within PE lessons and across the wider school day. The role involves promoting participation, teamwork, resilience and positive behaviour through structured physical activity and sport.

This is a rewarding opportunity to positively influence young people's confidence, wellbeing and engagement in education through sport.

Key Responsibilities:


• Support the delivery of PE lessons alongside the class teacher and PE lead.
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional needs.
• Promote positive behaviour, teamwork and sportsmanship.
• Adapt activities to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all students.
• Support behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
• Assist with extracurricular sports activities where appropriate.
• Build strong, professional relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.

The Ideal Candidate:


• Experience working with secondary-aged pupils in a school, coaching or youth setting.
• Background in sports coaching, physical education or a related field.
• Confident supporting students with SEN, including behavioural or emotional needs.
• Calm, resilient and able to manage challenging behaviour positively.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Full-time availability and the right to work in the UK.

Desirable (but not essential):


• Experience working within an SEN or alternative provision setting.
• Team Teach, MAPA or other behaviour management training.
• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Sport or Coaching.
