The Role

Aviation Security Officer – Annualised Hours Contract
Location: Leeds Bradford Airport

We are recruiting Aviation Security Officers on an annualised hours contract, offering flexibility across the year in line with
passenger demand.




Key Dates

* Assessment Centre: 25th February 2026
* Training Start Date: 7th April 2026

Important: You must be available to work Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm for the full 4-week training period.




Shift Patterns

Our new intake of Aviation Security Officers will work one of the following patterns (shift pattern will be confirmed at
assessment centre):

* 5 Days On / 3 Days Off / 5 Days On / 2 Days Off

OR

* 6 Days On / 3 Days Off

LBA operates 24/7.

* Shifts will include a mix of early/late, day/night across a full 24hr operational period.

(these times will vary depending on demand)

Flexibility is essential, including weekends and unsociable hours.




What Does Annualised Hours Mean?

This flexible contract means:

* Longer shifts in peak summer (e.g. 12 hours)
* Shorter shifts in quieter winter months (e.g. 8 hours)
* A consistent monthly salary, paid evenly regardless of hours worked that week
* Draft shifts issued 6 weeks in advance, finalised 2 weeks before




What You’ll Earn

* £13 per hour
* £25,079.34 per annum
(Based on an average of 37 hours per week, paid in equal monthly instalments)

Full training provided.




Training

You will complete a comprehensive 4-week full-time training programme, including:

* Classroom-based learning with industry-leading trainers
* Hands-on practical training
* On-the-job development in a controlled environment
* Final shadowing with experienced Security Officers

You must be able to commit to full-time weekday hours during training.




What You’ll Be Doing

Once qualified, you’ll play a vital role in keeping passengers safe and secure:

* Searching baggage, airport supplies, vehicles and people
* Patrolling the terminal and airport grounds
* Controlling access to restricted areas
* Checking identification and travel documentation
* Managing on-site security incidents as part of a team
* Operating state-of-the-art 3D X-ray screening equipment
* Delivering outstanding customer service to every passenger

This is a highly visible, customer-facing position where professionalism and attention to detail are critical.




Eligibility Criteria

To apply, you must:

* Be at least 18 years old (due to vetting criteria)
* Be fluent in written and spoken English (additional languages beneficial)
* Have full colour vision (legal requirement)
* Must be able to fulfil all elements of the role, which include; standing for long periods, bending, stretching and lifting
* Have lived in the UK for the past 5 years
* Be able to provide a 5-year work/education history
* Pass Criminal Record and Counter Terrorism Checks
