NNUHFT is a vibrant, aspirational organisation, working towards becoming a Neurosciences Centre of Excellence to respond to the National Stroke Plan. We are looking to add to our established Stroke Services team and Acute Medical Unit by appointing to a substantive, whole time (10PA) consultant position, to support expansion of stroke services, development of mechanical thrombectomy and supplement our established team of 10 WTE Acute Medical consultants.
This post will include 6.5 PAs in Stroke and 3.5 PAs in the Acute Medical Unit.
The post holders will be expected to participate in Stroke on calls which includes covering out of hours on call for NNUH, QEH and JPUH as part of Norfolk & Waveney University Hospitals Group
You will be based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH),contributing towards the 7 days a week stroke consultant ward rounds to all of our hyper acute stroke patients. There is an on-call rota specifically for Stroke only, with a frequency of approximately 1 in 7 with prospective cover including Thrombolysis and Mechanical Thrombectomy referral to CUH.
Teaching responsibilities are shared with the stroke consultant colleagues and specialty trainees and consists of a repeating programme of lectures, seminars and tutorials. You may also participate in the teaching programme for the University of East Anglia (UEA) medical students and other clinical professionals involved with the Stroke pathway. You will be encouraged to participate in ongoing research studies.
The job plan for Stroke Consultant role will include:
• Thrombolysis and Thrombectomy referrals
• Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) ward round
• Acute Stroke Unit (ASU) ward round
• Rehabilitation Unit ward round
• Administration time
• TIA Clinic
• CPD to develop own specialist stroke service interests.
The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals.
The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) is one of the busiest teaching trusts in England. • Cromer and District Hospital is located in Cromer on the North Norfolk coast and serves the North Norfolk population. It was redeveloped in 2012 to replace the 1930s-founded hospital. We provide a wide range of consultant-led outpatient services, day case operations and a Minor Injuries Unit (MIU). The trust is commemorated 150 years of a hospital in Cromer in 2017/18.
