About the Role
As a Class 1 Driver, you will:
- Loading and unloading refrigerated vehicles at the depot and delivery points, ensuring goods are handled with care and in line with food safety standards.
- Daily delivery runs from Haverfordwest to Supermarket Stores across South Wales, typically involving 4 to 5 drops per shift, allowing for a focused and efficient workday.
- Handballing and self-tipping at delivery points-ideal for drivers who enjoy staying active and hands-on.
- Planning your own route each day based on delivery schedules, order of planned deliveries and traffic conditions, giving you autonomy and control over your journey.
- Conducting thorough daily vehicle safety checks using a company-issued smartphone to log inspections and ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and compliant.
- Maintaining clear and consistent communication with the transport team throughout your shift to provide updates, report any issues, and ensure smooth operations.
- Completing delivery paperwork and using digital systems to confirm deliveries and maintain accurate records.
- Participating in regular training sessions to stay current with industry regulations, safety protocols, and best practices-your development matters to us.
- Representing the company professionally at all times, providing excellent service to store teams and upholding our reputation for reliability and care.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- You must hold a valid UK Class 1 CE licence, enabling you to operate articulated vehicles with confidence and professionalism.
- A current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) and a Digital Tachograph Driver Card are essential to ensure compliance with legal and safety standards.
- Previous experience working with refrigerated trailers is advantageous, but not essential, as full training will be provided to get you up to speed.
- We're looking for someone who takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service, representing our brand with professionalism and care at every stop.
- You'll need to be comfortable working to tight schedules, managing your time effectively to ensure deliveries are made promptly and safely.
- A confident and polite communicator, you'll work closely with colleagues across transport and logistics, contributing to a supportive and efficient team environment.
- A good understanding of UK road network, particularly across Wales and surrounding regions, will help you navigate routes efficiently and avoid delays.
