Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment have been given the exciting opportunity to recruit for a workshop operative with an FLT licence for a well-known manufacturer in the NG4 area of Nottingham.

As a workshop operative you can expect your day to be varied and challenging, so it does require somebody who is dedicated, and willing to learn new skills.

Job Role:

The role is based in the Workshop under the direction of the Workshop Manager. The primary duties relate to the manufacture of bespoke fireplace products.

Pay & Benefits:

• £26,436.80 starting salary
• Overtime paid at a premium rate
• Chance of progression within the company
• 3% pension scheme
• 28 days annual leave which increases with service
• Permanent placement

Responsibilities:

• Assisting in the manufacture and assembly of bespoke fireplaces to detailed technical drawings
• Operating workshop machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently
• Cutting, shaping, sanding, finishing and preparing different materials
• Quality checking finished products to ensure they meet company standards
• Working to production deadlines while maintaining high quality standards
• Operation of forklift as and when required.
• Adherence to all health and safety instructions, including wearing protective clothing and equipment.
• Maintaining a safe working environment and reporting any health and safety concerns immediately to the Workshop Manager.

What we need from you:

• Have previous workshop, manufacturing, or carpentry experience (preferred but not essential for the right candidate)
• Be confident using hand tools and basic workshop machinery
• Have strong attention to detail and take pride in producing high-quality work
• Be physically fit and capable of manual handling
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Be reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a small, close-knit team
• Have the ability to read and interpret technical drawings (desirable)
