Summary
We are looking for a motivated Project Engineer to lead the commissioning of a small-scale Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plant. You will oversee technical activities, coordinate contractors, ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and deliver the plant from construction completion through performance testing and handover.
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning Management
• Develop and implement commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures for all plant systems (mechanical, electrical, control, thermal)
• Coordinate and supervise commissioning activities with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams
• Lead system checks, functional testing, start-up sequences, and performance validation
• Monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions
Technical Oversight
• Review and verify engineering documentation, P&IDs, diagrams, O&M manuals, and test packs
• Ensure systems meet design specifications, operational requirements, and regulatory compliance
• Support validation of process parameters, control logic, and safety interlocks
HSE Compliance
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure commissioning activities comply with HSE rules and statutory regulations
• Conduct risk assessments, method statement reviews, and permit-to-work coordination
Problem Solving & Design Changes
• Work with control system engineers to identify plant issues
• Develop and implement solutions, updating documentation (FDS, P&IDs, wiring diagrams) accordingly
• Facilitate progress meetings, prepare status reports, and communicate commissioning milestones
Documentation & Handover
• Produce commissioning reports, punch lists, and as-built documentation
• Support training of operations personnel
• Ensure successful handover including reliability testing and performance guarantee runs
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Process Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• 3–7 years of engineering experience; commissioning experience in WtE, biomass, CHP, thermal power, or process plants preferred
• Strong understanding of process systems, steam/thermal cycles, industrial automation, and rotating equipment
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and contractors
• Proficiency with commissioning tools, project scheduling, and technical documentation
