Join Our Founding Team: Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of young people with unique learning needs? We are thrilled to have opened a brand-new SEND Secondary School in September 2025, and we are looking for dedicated Teaching Assistants to join us at the very start of this journey.

Based in Chaldon, Surrey, this school supports students aged 11-16 who require specialised assistance with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing-typically associated with Autism.

The Opportunity
  • Salary: £24,139.67 - £25,819.26 actual annual salary (dependent on experience).

  • Bonus: £1,000 Welcome Bonus*.

  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Term Time only.

  • Schedule: 8:15 AM start; finishes vary between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM depending on the day.

  • Contract: Permanent.

The Role

As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, your primary mission is to support our students' learning and general wellbeing, ensuring every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential. You will work within a model of small classes and high levels of classroom support, alongside a multi-disciplinary intervention team.

+1

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Supporting Learning: Implementing and adjusting learning activities under the guidance of the Class Teacher to reinforce key concepts.

  • Pupil Welfare: Taking responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the positive wellbeing of pupils.

  • Behavioural Support: Promoting positive behaviour and concentration levels, adapting your responses to meet the individual needs of the child.

  • Personal Development: Encouraging independence and supporting pupils' cognitive, social, and emotional growth.

  • Collaboration: Working closely with teachers and parents/carers to follow a "Waking Day Curriculum" approach.

Who We Are Looking For

We need creative, flexible, and proactive individuals who can think "outside the box" to meet individual student needs.

  • Qualifications: GCSE Maths and English (Level 2) and a Level 2 award in supporting teaching and learning (or a willingness to work toward one).

  • Experience: While previous SEND experience is desirable, a commitment to putting the child first is essential.

  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, competent ICT ability, and the resilience to meet the physical demands of a busy school environment.

  • Requirements: A satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and eligibility to work in the UK are mandatory.

Why Join Us?

As part of a wider educational group, you will benefit from regular training, professional development, and a culture that celebrates equality and diversity. This is a rare chance to help shape the culture of a new school from day one.

Ready to start your journey with us? If you have a "can-do" mindset and a passion for inclusive education, we would love to hear from you. Please call Paul at Randstad on 01293 527416 or email paul.hirchfield@randstad.co.uk
