About the role
I’m Abigail (25) and I’m looking for a caring, reliable, female Personal Care Assistant to join my support team. I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Type 1 diabetes, a tracheostomy, and I’m ventilated 24/7, so the care I need can be complex. However, life isn’t all medical — I’m a sociable 25-year-old who enjoys going out, doing my makeup, and I also stream for a living.
This is a rewarding role for someone who is calm under pressure, a confident communicator, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team.
Requirements
Must be female as personal care is part of the job role
I have 3 dogs and 2 cats, so must be okay with animals.
Key responsibilities
You will support me with a mix of personal care and clinical/health-related tasks, including:
Personal care and daily living support
Moving and handling
Medication support
Nebulisers
Catheter care
Tracheostomy/ventilation support (as trained)
Insulin administration and blood glucose monitoring
General wellbeing support and companionship
Supporting me to get out and about
Full guidance will be provided, and all training is provided.
About you
You’ll be a great fit if you are:
Reliable and punctual
Calm, patient, and attentive
Able to work independently and also as part of a team
A strong communicator with good attention to detail
Respectful of privacy, boundaries, and professional standards
Comfortable supporting someone with complex care needs (training provided)
Experience
Previous care experience is helpful but not essential — a positive attitude and willingness to learn matters most.
You must be comfortable following care plans and completing daily notes/tasks accurately.
What you’ll get
Full training and ongoing support
A friendly working environment within a supportive team
The chance to make a real difference in someone’s day-to-day life
How to apply
(An enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references are required.)
