An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced physiotherapist with an interest in Haematology. Our cancer services based at Hammersmith Hospital offers a unique opportunity to work in a leading specialist cancer centre. We offer the most up-to-date chemotherapy, stem cell transplant and CAR-T treatments, which leads to one of the best survival rates in the country. We also treat multiple red cell conditions and are providing stem cell transplants and gene-editing therapies to treat sickle cell disease. In this role, you will be a senior therapist providing high quality physiotherapy, to inpatients with both red and white cell haematology conditions.

We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking and passionate therapist with excellent communication skills and clinical skills, to join the team and deliver high quality, timely care. You will possess the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. It is important that the successful applicant is a team player with a positive outlook, has enthusiasm and has the ability to learn and develop new skills.

You must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge and broad rotational experience, possessing high quality assessment, treatment and risk management skills. Whilst haematology experience is desirable, it is not essential.
• To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including management of patients in your care.
• To undertake a comprehensive assessment and re-assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentation
• To assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, to ensure improved compliance, gain valid informed consent and work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
• To plan and prioritise own caseload independently on a day-to-day basis to ensure patients are appropriately seen, in conjunction with the priorities of the team and to give assistance to other team members as required.
• To be flexible in the organisation of own caseload and to respond to predictable and unpredictable service needs throughout the day.
• To take delegated responsibility for the operational management of the team, allocating and guiding the work of junior and assistant staff to meet service priorities on a daily basis.
• To undertake the measurement and evaluation of your own work and current practice through the use of projects, audit or outcome measures, whether individually or with the support of senior staff.
• To assist in the induction, daily supervision and delegation of tasks to band 5 physiotherapists, therapy support workers, students and administrative staff, as required.
