About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Contracts Engineer to join our Ground Engineering (BBGE) team on the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project.
Net Zero Teesside Power (NZT Power) is a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power and carbon capture project and a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster. For this project, BBGE are responsible for the construction of the piling works package which consists of CFA and rotary bored techniques.
This project has a wide array of uncommon constraints that need to be overcome to ensure safe and efficient delivery of the programme. There are various key stakeholders for this project, so proactive communication and collaboration are critical
behaviours expected of all individuals working on the project.
What you'll be doing
The successful candidate will:
- Lead and manage the civil piling aspects of a project, including planning, design, and construction phases for the piling works.
- Develop and review project plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.
- Conduct site inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members.
- Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and project updates to stakeholders.
- Ensure that all engineering activities adhere to industry standards, best practices, and company policies.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting continuous improvement and professional development.
- Oversee and coordinate internal teams and subcontractors to ensure effective resource management.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with contractual obligations, design specifications, drawings, and the Project Management Plan.
Who we're looking for
The following qualities and experience are required to fulfil the requirements of this role:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally.
- Strong computer skills - focused on Excel/Word/PowerPoint.
- 5+ years’ experience in the construction industry.
- Experience in delivery of civil engineering contracts on various scales.
- Ability to manage multiple teams efficiently.
- Ability to manage multiple scheme costs.
- Ability to manage Health and Safety including Behavioural Safety.
- Ability to lead, communicate and influence others to deliver targets.
- SSSTS or SMSTS.
- CSCS card.
- Experience working for a piling subcontractor.
- Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent preferable.
