This is an excellent opportunity for a plasterer to join our excellent repairs and maintenance team.
It is a varied role ranging from working on day-to-day repairs and maintenance through to refurbishments to council housing in Chesterfield.
This includes preparing surfaces, applying various plaster finishes, damp proofing and associated works and ensuring that all work complies with health and safety standards
The successful applicant will have :
Essential
-Have a ‘can do’ approach to work and would enjoy the challenge of making our Housing Property Services even more successful
-Have at least 3 years’ experience working as a plasterer
-Hold a full UK driving licence Cat B qualified or willingness to obtain and maintain qualification
-To display the council’s values and behaviours when carrying out the job role
-The position involves manual handling activities, including lifting, carrying and moving items, and requires the capacity to meet the demands of the role, including prolonged periods of standing, bending, and manual labour.
Desirable
Knowledge of damp‑proofing
-Understanding of techniques used to identify, address and prevent damp issues, particularly in older buildings.
Painting and decorating skills
-Experience in finishing plastered surfaces using paint or other decorative methods.
Experience within a Local Government environment
-Familiarity with working practices, procedures and expectations in a Local Government setting.
Flexible and proactive approach
-Able to use your own initiative and exercise sound judgement when carrying out tasks.
