We are looking for a strategic and commercially minded finance business partner to join our finance team in Selly Oak. This is a full time, hybrid role working 2-3 days per week in the office.
This is a true partnering role - providing insight, challenge and financial leadership to support effective decision-making, drive performance and ensure strong financial stewardship across multiple cost centres.
You will produce high-quality management information, lead the annual budgeting process, and provide robust analysis and narrative that enables non-financial managers to fully understand the financial implications of their decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Produce monthly management accounts for support areas (including Finance, People, Technology, Governance, Property, Procurement and Commercial), ensuring accuracy of accruals, prepayments, payroll and income reporting.
Maintain and reconcile associated balance sheet accounts.
Prepare financial performance reports for Chief Officers and senior leadership, with clear narrative explaining key drivers and variances.
Lead monthly finance review meetings and act as the key contact for budget holders.
Provide professional challenge and financial insight to inform commercial, capital and investment decisions.
Lead and coordinate the annual budget-setting process in collaboration with senior leaders.
Work closely with stakeholders to understand operational cost drivers and provide proactive financial insight.
Support continuous improvement of reporting structures and finance systems.
Ensure compliance with financial policies, charity SORP and statutory requirements.
About You
You will be a qualified finance professional with strong analytical capability and proven experience in a multi-cost centre environment.
Essential
ACA / ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent) qualified, with evidence of continuing professional development.
Proven experience as a Finance Business Partner.
Experience developing and monitoring annual budgets in a complex organisation.
Advanced Excel skills, including large data set manipulation, pivot tables and reporting analysis.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and challenge senior leaders.
Up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and familiarity with Charity SORP.
Experience using finance systems such as Sun.
A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and to Sense’s vision and values.
Desirable
Experience working in the charity or not-for-profit sector.
Understanding of the needs of people with deafblindness and related disabilities.
