Neway International are seeking a Safeguarding Support Assistant to join our client based with Plymouth City Council.

Location: Ballard House, West Hoe Road, Plymouth, PL1 3BJ
Hours: 22.5 per week
Start Date: 23/02/2026
Duration: 24 weeks

Work Pattern: Minimum 1 day per week in the office; remaining days hybrid and meeting‑dependent

About the Client
Plymouth City Council’s Children, Young People and Families Service delivers high‑quality safeguarding, quality assurance and business support across the city. The Plymouth Safeguarding Children Partnership (PSCP) plays a vital role in ensuring agencies work together effectively to protect children and promote their welfare.

The Role
A Safeguarding Support Assistant is required to provide cover for a secondment within the PSCP Business Unit. The postholder will work closely with the Partnership Business Manager to deliver high‑quality administrative and organisational support to the partnership. This includes supporting subgroups, maintaining operational systems, and coordinating activity linked to child safeguarding practice reviews. The role requires excellent organisational skills, strong IT capability and the ability to work proactively within a safeguarding environment.

Key Responsibilities
Provide administrative and organisational support to the PSCP and its subgroups.

Maintain operational systems, procedures and records to meet business requirements.

Support the administration of child safeguarding practice reviews.

Prepare agendas, collate papers and manage meeting logistics.

Monitor multiple inboxes, manage calendars and draft correspondence.

Create and maintain spreadsheets, documents and reports using Microsoft Office.

Use Microsoft Teams effectively and apply AI‑enabled tools where appropriate to support administrative tasks.

Contribute to project coordination and day‑to‑day partnership activity.

Work collaboratively with the Partnership Business Manager and wider safeguarding team.

Candidate Requirements
Strong administrative experience, ideally within safeguarding, children’s services or a similar environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines and priorities.

Confident in handling sensitive information with discretion.

Strong organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Full compliance documentation required.
