Location: County Hall, High Street, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 1UD
Hours: 37 per week
Start Date: 02/03/2026

Pay Rate: £267.42 PAYE per day / £357.85 Umbrella per day

Work Pattern: Agile working – based wherever the work is best delivered. Island‑based candidates preferred.

The Isle of Wight Council manages one of the most diverse and unique property estates in the UK. With nearly 800 assets including offices, schools, leisure centres, heritage buildings, industrial units, coastal assets and a mainland commercial portfolio, the Strategic Assets Team delivers high‑quality, professional property management across a landscape recognised as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

The Role
An Estates Management Surveyor is required to support a project‑driven peak in workload. The postholder will manage a varied caseload of landlord and tenant matters, property management tasks and estates work across the Council’s commercial and community estate. A key initial focus will be progressing a backlog of rent reviews and lease renewals. The role sits within a supportive, professional team and offers a varied and rewarding workload across a unique property portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in delivering a professional property management and property records function.

Manage landlord and tenant matters including rent reviews, lease renewals, assignments and tenant enquiries.

Oversee invoicing of rents and service charges and liaise with tenants on operational issues.

Maintain accurate property records and analyse information to identify risks, trends and solutions.

Provide property advice to colleagues across Strategic Asset Management, Corporate Estates and Property Maintenance.

Support corporate projects including acquisitions, disposals, accommodation strategy and regeneration schemes.

Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, partner organisations and other agencies to ensure effective service delivery.

Research property history, market trends and valuation data to support decision‑making.

Contribute to the development of service standards and customer‑focused delivery.

Candidate Requirements
Proven experience in property management, including landlord and tenant work.

Experience across general practice disciplines such as lettings, rental income management and service charges.

Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Ability to research property history, analyse market data and provide valuation‑informed advice.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of property databases desirable.

Educated to A‑Level standard or equivalent experience.

RICS qualification desirable.

Ability to work remotely while maintaining productivity, with availability to attend the Island when required.
