A Vacancy at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


To deliver an advanced level of care and play a key role in the clinical management of paediatric oncology patients, acting as a role model and expert practitioner in paediatric oncology and paediatric venous access.

The post holder will be practicing autonomously as an ACP to provide patient-centred quality care. This will encompass the skills of advanced assessment, examination, diagnosis and management within an agreed scope of practice.

To work within the multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England (HEE2017). The post holder will deliver an 80% clinical component to their role and 20% related to leadership and management, education and research.

· Autonomously work in partnership with individuals, families and carers, managing a caseload of patients using a range of advanced assessment methods as appropriate (e.g. history taking, physical examination, identifying risk factors, mental health assessments)



· To be an expert practitioner and role model in the field of paediatric respiratory nursing, providing consultancy in these fields for all nursing and medical staff across the Trust, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills



· Use expertise and decision-making skills to inform clinical reasoning approaches when dealing with differentiated and undifferentiated individual presentations and complex situations, synthesising information from multiple sources to make appropriate, evidence-based judgements and/or diagnoses

· Request appropriate medical imaging or other diagnostic tests in accordance to Trust policies and in accordance with nationally agreed protocols and policies



· Interpret the findings of medical imaging or other diagnostics according to competence



· To be an independent non-medical prescriber and prescribe within Trust guidelines and within a safe scope of practice

Continually develop practice in response to changing population health need, engaging in horizon scanning for future developments (e.g. NHSE directives, impacts of genomics, new treatments and changing social challenges

· Critically assess and address own learning needs, negotiating a personal development plan that reflects the breadth of on-going professional development across the four pillars of advanced clinical practice



· Engage in self-directed learning, critically reflecting to maximise clinical skills and knowledge, as well as own potential to lead and develop both care and services



· Engage with, appraise and respond to individuals’ motivation, development stage and capacity, working collaboratively to support health literacy and empower individuals to participate in decisions about their care and to maximise their health and well-being
