Job Purpose:
Our Young People Service supports young people aged 16–25 who are experiencing homelessness or are care leavers, helping them build confidence, stability and independent living skills within a safe residential environment. As a Wellbeing Worker (Nights), you will provide person-centred housing support overnight, ensuring the safety, wellbeing and stability of the young people we support.
You will work primarily within a residential setting, with a significant element of lone working, responding to a range of situations including complex and challenging behaviours. This role plays a vital part in creating a safe and supportive environment during night-time hours and helping young people move towards greater independence.

Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver high-quality, person-centred support in line with individual support plans and risk assessments.
• Develop and maintain accurate records including support plans, reviews, case notes and incident reports.
• Build positive, professional relationships that promote independence and wellbeing.
• Support young people with complex needs including mental health challenges, self-harm, addictions and challenging behaviour.
• Respond calmly and effectively to incidents and emergencies in line with procedures.
• Carry out regular health & safety and building checks during night shifts.
• Handle rent payments and petty cash in accordance with policy.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners, including social work and other agencies.
• Adhere to relevant legislation, policies and professional standards including SSSC Codes of Practice and Care Inspectorate standards.
Essential Criteria:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting vulnerable adults or young people.
• Understanding of relevant care standards and codes of practice.
• Experience of working independently and managing lone working responsibilities.
• Knowledge of issues affecting young people, homelessness and care leavers.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage competing demands.
• A flexible, enthusiastic and self-motivated approach with a commitment to delivering excellent service.
