Since 2009, LITC has supported adults and young people across London with dynamic training qualifications, community programs, and youth-focused projects, fostering skill development and creating opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching, Learning & Assessment
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Barbering sessions in line with curriculum requirements.
Demonstrate and teach a range of barbering techniques, including cutting, fading, clipper work, shaving, styling, and finishing.
Assess learners’ practical and theoretical work against awarding-body standards.
Provide timely, constructive feedback to support learner progress.
Ensure lessons meet safeguarding, equality, diversity, and health & safety standards.
Administration
The role includes 2.5 hours of admin time per cohort, which covers:
Completion of learner documentation and learning plans.
Tracking and recording attendance, progress, and assessment outcomes.
Updating e-portfolios and marking written work.
Preparing for internal quality assurance (IQA) and external verification (EV).
Cohort reviews, communication with support teams, and compliance tasks.
Learner Support
Provide ongoing academic and pastoral support to ensure learners remain engaged.
Set individual targets and monitor progress.
Support learners with exam preparation, portfolio building, and workplace readiness.
Quality & Compliance
Maintain accurate records in line with organisational, funding, and awarding-body requirements.
Contribute to internal standardisation, team meetings, and quality improvement plans.
Ensure the learning environment is safe, inclusive, and professional.
Industry & Professional Development
Keep up to date with current barbering trends, products, equipment, and methods.
Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) to support both subject knowledge and teaching skills.
Person Specification
Essential
Recognised qualification in Barbering (e.g., Level 2/3 NVQ or equivalent).
Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one (e.g., AET/PTLLS).
Assessor qualification (A1/TAQA) or willingness to complete.
Strong practical skills and industry experience.
Ability to support, motivate, and inspire learners.
Good organisational, communication, and administrative skills.
