About the role

At Myerscough College and University Centre, we are passionate about delivering outstanding land‑based education that equips learners with the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed for successful careers. Within our Apprenticeships & Workforce Development provision, we work closely with employers and industry partners to ensure our programmes remain innovative, relevant, and aligned to the needs of the agricultural and countryside sectors.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join us as Curriculum Area Manager – Animal Industries and Environment (Apprenticeships) on a maternity cover basis. In this pivotal leadership role, you will support the Director of Apprenticeships with all operational matters across the curriculum area, ensuring high‑quality teaching, learning, assessment, and an exceptional learner experience throughout the period of cover.

You will provide effective leadership to teaching staff and work‑based tutors, driving high standards and ensuring that provision within your area meets performance, quality, and compliance targets. You will contribute to curriculum planning and development, including programme design, sequencing of learning, timetabling, and the selection of qualification pathways that meet employer expectations and sector developments.

A key part of the role involves championing quality improvement. You will support the implementation of college-wide quality assurance processes, including QRA, CQA quality processes, performance reviews, and awarding‑body compliance. You will use data, learner feedback, and employer insights to shape enhancements and will model strong safeguarding practice, professional standards, and the principles of FREDIE across your curriculum area.

You will build effective relationships with employers, students, parents, and external partners, ensuring that our apprenticeship provision remains responsive, professional, and reflective of current industry needs. You will also support recruitment activity, employer engagement, marketing, and events that contribute to the continued success of the Apprenticeships department.

By joining Myerscough, you will become part of a collaborative and supportive community, working in an inspiring rural setting with a strong commitment to professional development, innovation, and shaping the future of the land‑based industries.

By choosing to work with us, you'll enjoy a wide range of benefits. You’ll receive a holiday package of 42 days annual leave (full time equivalent) as well as membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. Based at our picturesque campus in rural Lancashire, you will enjoy working in a bespoke and sector leading facility with a passionate and supportive team of colleagues who are committed to empowering futures and providing the best experience and platform for all our students to succeed.
