Summary
We are seeking, on behalf of our client, a Deputy Manager for an exciting role working in a rural residential service.
To assist the Register Manager with the day to day running of one of the residential homes. The ideal candidate should have previous experience in a senior role, with an aim on providing high-quality support to adults with learning disabilities. You would need to process leadership skills, the ability to support with managing a staff team, and ensuring the well-being of all residents.
Situated in 90 acres of beautiful countryside residents are supported in one of four homes on site. Residents are supported to be actively involved with helping with the farm, looking after the animals, gardening, arts/crafts, community access & social activities.
The Role:
To maintain excellent standards of work practice as directed my the management team thereby contributing to the continuity & quality of care delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the efficient and effective daily running of the house as a whole and take responsibility for the overall management in the absence in the manager.
- To assist with the responsibility of devising rota's and ensuring that the home has adequate staff cover.
- To promote the company in a positive and professional manner.
- Assist the Home Manager in the development of the staff team e.g. appraisals, supervisions, return to work interviews etc.
- Chair staff meetings in the absence of the Home Manager.
- To take on responsibilities of on-call person, being supportive of staff accessing the on-call system.
- Safe & effective decision making (in house & on-call)
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Ability to use discretion and diplomacy skills where necessary.
- To have a thorough knowledge and understanding of residents care plans and risk assessments and ensure staff follow these at all times.
- To ensure the safety of residents and promote their dignity and rights
- To facilitate and promote resident involvement with the house, wider community & access opportunities for development & leisure.
Requirements:
- Registered with Social Care Wales (SCW) - Essential
- Previous experience working in a senior role - Essential
- Knowledge of CIW inspection process - Desirable
- Level 3 or above qualification in Health & Social Care - Essential
- Right to Work in the UK
- Sound understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities
- Effective verbal, written & numeracy skills
- Positive & flexible attitude.
- Understanding of person centred care & positive outcomes
- Ensuring safety & wellbeing by implementing safeguarding procedures
- Excellent communication skills, to liaise effectively with resident, families, healthcare professionals
- Compassionate and caring approach, showing empathy & understanding at all times.
- Familiar with medication administration protocols & best practice
- Excellent IT skills
