Barton Moss Secure Care Centre ‘A truly exceptional place to work’
We are a 24 bed Secure Care Centre which is made up of 4 residential units. We care for sentenced and remanded males under the age of 18 years and are part of the national Secure Children’s Home network.
The Centre has a proven track record of offering a very high standard of emotional, educational and physical care. This supports young people to succeed in their personal and academic development and resettlement back into the community. The centre has achieved Good & Outstanding, Ofsted judgements.
Who we are seeking
We are looking for a self-motivated, reliable Chef to join our team and provide a high-quality catering service in the centre. The team maintains the centre over a 7day rota, so some weekend work is included. We are seeking someone who can play a vital role in the daily running of the kitchen, takes great pride in their work, and pays excellent attention to detail.
About the role
- To provide good quality, nutritional and balanced meals for young people and staff
- To provide cost effective and attractive meals for the centre’s canteen
- To produce refreshments and buffets for meetings and Conferences
- To ensure that effective, ordering, production, stock control and minimum wastage levels are achieved.
- To assist with the planning of menus for young people, staff and customers.
- To ensure effective portion control
- To ensure that all special dietary needs are met for customers.
- To ensure that all required records and returns are completed accurately and promptly in accordance with relevant policies and regulations.
- To comply with all relevant health, safety and security procedures within the secure centre.
- To accept supervision from the senior chef and participate in any training identified within the personal development plan.
- To participate in the working rota covering the hours of 8.00am to 7.00pm Monday to Friday & 8.00am to 5.00pm Saturday/Sunday. (5 shifts per week averaged over a 4 week rota period)
