Summary
We are looking for a reliable and proactive Evening Caretaker to provide site supervision, security and support for community lettings outside of the school day. This is an important role in ensuring our school remains a safe, welcoming and well-managed environment for all users.
The postholder will be responsible for evening caretaking and security cover, overseeing school lettings and community use, completing full lock-up procedures, and ensuring all areas are left safe and ready for the next school day.
This is a 52-week post for 16 hours per week, 4pm to 10pm, Monday to Thursday, plus the possibility of non-contractual overtime on alternate Saturdays as agreed.
Key responsibilities include:
Acting as the main on-site contact for evening, weekend and holiday lettings,
Opening, setting up and securing rooms, halls and facilities,
Carrying out full site lock-up, including alarms and security checks,
Ensuring health, safety, safeguarding and fire procedures are followed,
Light cleaning, tidying and basic maintenance tasks,
Responding calmly and professionally to queries or incidents,
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience in caretaking, facilities, site supervision or a similar role,
Can work confidently and independently while being part of a team,
Understands the importance of site security and safeguarding,
Is physically able to carry out walking patrols and manual tasks,
Is supportive of the ethos and values of a Church of England school,
Experience of working on a school site is desirable but not essential.
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
