Band 6 Resuscitation Officer

An excitingopportunity has arisen to join a dynamic growing Resuscitation Team as a Resuscitation Officer, based in Central London. This is a full time permanent position.



The Resuscitation Team provide responsive education, training and advice on resuscitation and recognition and management of the deteriorating patient to both clinicians and non-clinicians at all levels throughout the Trust. We are looking for a motivated person who can work flexibly either alone or as part of a team. The role will include teaching 3 levels of resuscitation training; Immediate life Support, and both levels of Basic Life Support at our training venues in London, Surrey and Milton Keynes. The role will also include undertaking audits and delivering simulations within wards and services across the Trust.

Please note the ability to work independently and as part of a team at locations across London and Milton Keynes is a requirement for this role.

The post holder must be a registered health care professional registered with the NMC, HCPC or similar. Experience of responding to deteriorating patients will be required preferably with experience of providing resuscitation.The role will include management of a band 5 trainer within the team. The post holder will work with a wide range of professionals and respond to a various challenges that arise.You will need to have some experience of teaching.The successful applicant will be based in Central London but must be willing travel across London and Milton Keynes where the services and training are delivered.



1. Be responsible for the delivery of resuscitation training to all levels of staff employed by
CNWL NHS Foundation Trust.
2. Support the Resuscitation Manager in the Interpretation of national guidelines and policies
for resuscitation, anaphylaxis and other emergency support procedures such as emergency
oxygen care, early warning tools. Advise and update relevant algorithms and policies
through the appropriate governance pathways.
3. Participate in and development of resuscitation, anaphylaxis and any training/teaching
sessions deemed appropriate to the role.
4. Organise and deliver adult and paediatric Immediate Life Support (ILS) Resuscitation
Council (UK) validated courses to Health Care Professionals within the Trust.
5. Organise and deliver Basic Life Support (BLS) and BLS updates (adult and paediatric) to
the relevant target audience.
6. Support the Resuscitation manager in maintaining Resuscitation Team compliance with
regulatory training to enable their delivery of resuscitation training.
7. Ensure all training is delivered at the appropriate standard and to deliver sufficient training
sessions to meet the target numbers annually.
8. Undertake simulation within all inpatient wards and community services where required;
ensuring actions are taken to address areas of concern.
9. Support the Resuscitation manager in relation to emergency equipment required and
advise the Nurse consultant and managers accordingly with regards to the procurement of
equipment.
10. Support the Resuscitation S with the monitoring and auditing of emergency equipment
within clinical areas and to take actions to address areas of concern.
11. Uphold the NMC/HCPC/GMC standards and Codes of Professional Conduct, Scope of
Professional Practice, Documentation, and Medicine Administration as published.
12. Be a clinically credible leader; to be visible in clinical services and be able to demonstrate
competence in resuscitation skills.
13. Provide appropriate post resuscitation incident support and or relevant remedial training as
required.
14. Demonstrate high levels of interpersonal skills including diplomacy, negotiation and
motivation to support best practice.
15. To represent the Trust at relevant external meetings and maintain membership at relevant
Resuscitation regional meetings.
16. Provide clinical advice and support to clinical staff on matters relating to “Do Not Attempt
Resuscitation” Decisions, following trust policy in line with
