These newly created roles will work into the Family Safeguarding Teams within Children's Social Care. Day to day, the practitioners will be based within the Family Safeguarding Teams, whilst working alongside practitioners in the PIMHT to ensure specialist support mental health supervision.

The Family Safeguarding Model is a whole family approach to working with children and families that supports parents to create sustained change for themselves and for their family. Within Blackpool Council the core social teams will now also include different workers; social workers, family support workers, mental health practitioners, domestic abuse and recovery workers who will work together to support families when they need it.

Blackpool Council core principles that we developed with Blackpool families, Blackpool Families Rock, are still at the centre of the service, including the Family Safeguarding approach. These guide all practitioners to work with families in positive, respectful ways’.
