HOURS: This role includes weekend working on a rota basis. Hours are 40 per week.

Role Purpose

To work in partnership with young people to support their transition into independence and adulthood. The post holder will empower young people to develop life skills, access services, and achieve positive outcomes within a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment, in line with government guidance and The Sanctuary Project’s policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supporting Young People

Build positive, professional relationships based on trust, respect, and clear boundaries
Promote socially acceptable behaviour and positive decision-making
Provide emotional, practical, and social support to young people
Encourage independence, self-care, and life skills development
Act as an advocate for young people and ensure their views are heard and respected
Deliver planned one-to-one and group support sessions
Complete and review individual risk assessments and support plans
Support young people to secure and sustain tenancies in their own name
Promote social inclusion, education, training, and employment opportunities
Support attendance at appointments including medical, education, CAMHS, and reviews
Provide guidance around budgeting, health, relationships, identity, culture, and daily living skills
Complete AQA work with young people where required
2. Safeguarding & Welfare

Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of all young people
Follow safeguarding policies and escalate concerns promptly to management
Maintain professional curiosity and risk awareness
Ensure young people are supervised appropriately and safely at all times
3. Recording, Assessment & Reporting

Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality records
Complete session notes, incident reports, risk assessments, and progress updates
Contribute to care planning meetings, reviews, and multi-agency discussions
Keep young people’s files fully updated and compliant
4. Working as Part of the Staff Team

Attend staff meetings, supervisions, and training sessions
Complete all mandatory and role-specific training
Work collaboratively and professionally with colleagues
Seek support when needed and contribute positively to team culture
5. Resources, Environment & Health & Safety

Use project resources responsibly and efficiently
Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming living and communal spaces
Complete weekly health & safety and room checks
Report maintenance and safety concerns promptly
6. Partnership Working

Work closely with Local Authorities, Social Workers, Personal Advisors, and external agencies
Provide regular updates and professional communication regarding young people’s progress
Support joint working to achieve positive outcomes
7. Organisation & Professional Practice

Plan and deliver structured, purposeful support sessions
Work independently and manage time effectively
Maintain professional boundaries at all times
Challenge inappropriate behaviour in a calm, constructive, and safe manner
Demonstrate strong conflict resolution and risk management skills
Act as a positive role model for young people
8. General Duties

Undertake any reasonable duties requested by Senior Management Team.
Transport young people to appointments, education, and meetings when required
Work evenings beyond 8pm and weekends on a rota basis
Complete cleaning and upkeep tasks as required
Confidentiality

Maintain strict confidentiality regarding young people, colleagues, and organisational information
Any breach of confidentiality may be treated as gross misconduct
