Crynodeb

We value a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community wishing to join a workforce which embraces difference and welcomes everyone.

Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need to respond arises Having an incident role is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency and an active way to support communities and prevent harm to the environment. Further information on incident response can be found within your candidate pack. The Resource Advisor (RA) is a key technical advisor whose expert resourcing advice enables strategic decision making and supports the tactical procurement, development and deployment of resources across Project & Programme Delivery (PPD) & Environmental Assessment & Reservoir Regulation and also in the wider Integrated Delivery teams.

RAs will not only have relevant experience in a wide range of aspects of resourcing, but demonstrate excellent data analysis abilities and strong interpersonal skills, all of which will give them the confidence to provide robust technical advice in a variety of leadership forums.

A key requirement of this role is to understand Strategic Workforce Plans (SWP) and be able to communicate them effectively to stakeholders. RAs will also be expected to develop solutions to their stakeholder resourcing needs which align with SWP, whilst also taking account of the needs of the individual stakeholders; and to produce, update and maintain tactical resource plans, scenario and succession plans, identifying risks, issues, and opportunities to enable strategic decision making.

We're looking for a forward thinker with a keen eye for detail who works collaboratively with key stakeholders in understanding and ensuring business requirements are met.

The team

As Part of Portfolio Insights and Reporting, our Resource Planning, Assurance & Skills team works with other teams across Project & Programme Delivery (PPD) & Environmental Assessment & Reservoir Regulation, helping to create a better place through our work in Portfolio, Programme and Project Management.

We support both strategic and tactical workforce planning with particular emphasis on developing the skills and capabilities of our workforce to better enable the delivery of the Portfolio

Experience/skills required

You’ll need to be competent in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with demonstrable experience of undertaking and summarising statistical analysis of multiple complex data sources is essential in this role. You must be highly numerate and enjoy working with figures to analyse and interpret data.

You’ll need a degree level qualification or substantial experience in a relevant subject. You’ll have an understanding of portfolio management, and of resourcing within the P3O framework. Ideally, you’ll have experience of a similar role and working environment, although this is not essential, and knowledge of developing/implementing resource affordability or cost models would be an advantage.

You must be an effective communicator, comfortable working with a range of staff grades and within a changing work environment.
