UCLH was recently successful in securing funding from NHS England and from other NHS Trusts using Epic as their digital health record system for a first-of-type (FoT) fixed-term project to integrate the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) into Epic.

As part of a small project team, the Pharmacy Project Lead for Digital Systems will be a senior, fixed-term leadership role responsible for overseeing the development and deployment of EPS within the Epic digital health record system at UCLH, and support other participating Epic NHS Trusts across England to prepare adoption and rollout.

In conjunction with digital colleagues, the postholder will provide assurance on the safe and effective use of EPS, and will be responsible for promoting patient safety, maintaining data integrity, and ensuring systems meet the clinical, regulatory and operational needs of the Trust, its staff, and patients.

The postholder will act on behalf of all participating Epic NHS Trusts across England, providing strategic programme leadership, professional pharmacy oversight and digital expertise to ensure safe, standardised and effective integration of EPS into Epic, aligned with NHS England policy, clinical safety standards and delivery timelines.

Operating at Agenda for Change Band 8b, the postholder will lead complex, high-risk transformation across organisational boundaries, influencing senior stakeholders at Trust, regional and national level.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide strategic leadership and programme management of the EPS FoT scheme on behalf of all participating Epic Trusts across England
• Ensure the EPS solution meets digital and clinical safety standards, through close collaboration with relevant teams
• Ensure national stakeholder engagement at all levels in Epic Trusts across England, and with partners at NHS England
• Develop a financial and operational benefits case to allow the operational, clinical and financial impact of EPS to be evaluated and quantified
• Develop and implement strategies to overcome obstacles to adoption of EPS, and support other participating Epic Trusts with their deployments
• Monitor adherence to agreed project plans, and develop appropriate mitigations when required in negotiation with key stakeholders
• Support the development of national EPS training approaches, and provide mentorship to pharmacy and digital colleagues across the country
• Liaise with other NHS Trusts supporting the development of similar FoT schemes with different system providers to ensure learning is shared for the benefit of wider EPS rollout in secondary care
