Summary


We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic person to join our Respiratory Physiotherapy team here at NNUH. The position will support the delivery of specialist assessments and treatments to patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions. This role offers an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their understanding of Physiotherapy with the multi-disciplinary team, optimizing mobilisation, and promoting functional recovery from illness and injury.

The primary role is to assist Physiotherapists in providing high quality assessment and treatment by carrying out key duties to support a smooth functioning of the team and service. This could include:

- Working under supervision to undertake a variety of clinical/non-clinical tasks to support the delivery of physiotherapy to patients.

- Assisting physiotherapists to carry out delegated physiotherapy duties

- Maintain accurate patient records based on own delegated caseloads

- Ensuring equipment is cleaned, maintained and available to physiotherapists in a timely fashion

As post holder you will work within a team of Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy support workers undertaking a variety of non-clinical and clinical tasks to support the delivery of physiotherapy services to patients. You will assist the Physiotherapists with their interventions and carry out prescribed exercise or functional practice programs that will benefit patients and support the team.

Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be working as part of a team and with a caseload of patients with possible complex communication needs. In addition, working in a multidisciplinary environment you must be able to communicate effectively, consistently and accurately.

Particularly with the in-patient roles, the patients that you will be required to see are frequently extremely unwell, sometimes feeling fatigued and demotivated and therefore previous experience of working in a care setting is desirable. You will experience a mix of patients those who are recovering from illness but also some that are experiencing physical and cognitive decline.
