Crynodeb

The Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital is a busy district general hospital close to the Kent coast and surrounded by countryside. We have 3000 deliveries per year. The labour ward has 8 delivery rooms and a dedicated obstetric emergency theatre which is present on the labour ward.

The Trust hosts medical students on attachment from GKT, UCL and Imperial Medical Schools and became a University Hospital linked to GKT in 2009.

From September 2020, we started to host an intake of medical students from the new Kent and Medway medical school which is based in East Kent.

This is a substantive 10PA Consultant post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

It is a replacement post for Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital and forms part of our expansion in consultant numbers to improve services for our women and babies.

The post-holder will also need to demonstrate competence in core Obstetrics and Gynaecology to enable he/she to fulfil the role of a general obstetrician and gynaecologist.

The consultant will be expected to participate in Intrapartum Obstetrics to ensure provision of the hours of consultant presence as required by the RCOG

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with three acute hospitals and community sites serving a local population of around 700,000. We also provide specialist services for Kent and Medway.

We’re on an exciting journey of transformation. With a new Medical School at the centre of our community, a focus on research, clinical leadership and making our trust a rewarding and friendly place to work, there’s never been a better time to join us.
