Summary

Senior Risk Manager
Technology & Digital Risk
Hybrid
Salary £90,000 DOE

We’re supporting a UK General Insurer in the appointment of a Senior Risk Manager to join their Technology & Digital Risk function in a key second-line oversight role.
This is a strategic position, reporting into the Head of Risk, focused on providing robust challenge and governance across emerging technology risks — including AI, data, cybersecurity and cloud transformation. You’ll play a central role in ensuring digital initiatives are well-controlled, compliant with PRA/FCA expectations, and aligned to risk appetite.
This role would suit someone who is genuinely tech-minded, able to get to the root cause of issues, and confident in constructively challenging IT and change stakeholders where required.

The Role

- Provide second-line oversight across digital, AI, cyber and cloud risks
- Lead end-to-end risk assessments (RCSAs, control testing, deep-dives)
- Oversee governance around AI / model risk and data ethics
- Partner with Technology and Security teams to challenge control environments
- Support regulatory reporting (including ORSA)
- Ensure alignment with PRA/FCA expectations and ISO standards
- Translate complex technology risks into clear business insight
- Influence risk decisions at senior leadership and Board level

Experience Required

- Second-line Risk experience within UK General Insurance
- Strong understanding of ERM frameworks (RCSAs, KRIs, risk registers)
- Knowledge of Solvency II and PRA / FCA regulatory expectations
- Exposure to AI, cyber, cloud or digital change risk
- Comfortable challenging senior IT or data stakeholders
- Familiarity with frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST or COBIT

Professional certifications (IRM, CISSP, CISM, CRISC) are beneficial but not essential.

This is an opportunity to step into a visible, business-critical role overseeing some of the most important emerging risks facing the insurance sector today.
