As an Admin Support Officer in our HMP & YOI Doncaster team, you will support within a high-paced and sensitive environment where accuracy, communication, and a commitment to public service are paramount.
You will be part of a dynamic team, supporting a range of OMU functions including sentence calculations, public protection processes, risk assessment coordination, and communication with internal and external agencies.
What you’ll do as an Admin Support Officer
- Maintain and update prison recording systems (e.g., NOMIS, DPS) for all new admissions.
- Allocate offender cases to Prison Offender Managers (POMs).
- Interpret court documents, calculate sentences, and liaise with courts to rectify anomalies.
- Checking information on all legal documents received from court, making assessments based on these in relation to public protection arrangements ·
- Monitoring phone calls/mail of relevant prisoners, recording this appropriately and reporting where necessary Schedule and minute key meetings such as risk management panels and progression boards.
- Manage department mailboxes, track legal documentation, and coordinate communication between prison and outside agencies.
- Prepare release paperwork and ensure notification to all relevant bodies.
- Contribute to department performance and compliance with KPIs and standards.

- Strong computer literacy, including Outlook and Excel.
- High attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
Desirable:
- Previous administrative experience, ideally within criminal justice, legal, or public sector environments.
- Familiarity with offender management systems (e.g., NOMIS, DPS).
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or above).
Vetting and checks:
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
