The Company
Our client is a specialist mechanical contractor delivering high-quality projects across the education and healthcare sectors. Working directly with end users (not frameworks), they deliver mechanical upgrade and decarbonisation projects including:
• Boiler plant room refurbishments
• Commercial pipework installations
• Decarbonisation heat pump installations
Projects are typically lower value but high volume, with individual schemes up to circa £1m. Sites are primarily across the North West (up to Leyland) with occasional projects in Wakefield.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to join their Liverpool-based team.
The Role
The Mechanical Project Manager will take full responsibility for the delivery of mechanical projects from pre-construction through to handover. You will manage multiple projects simultaneously across live education and healthcare environments.
This is a client-facing role, working directly with schools, universities, and hospitals.
Key Responsibilities
• Full lifecycle project management of mechanical installations
• Managing boiler room upgrades and heat pump decarbonisation schemes
• Coordination of subcontractors and site teams
• Programme management and ensuring timely delivery
• Cost control and financial management of projects
• Procurement of materials and subcontract packages
• Client liaison and stakeholder management
• Ensuring health & safety compliance
• Managing multiple projects (typically up to £1m in value)
Requirements
• Mechanical bias/background (essential)
• Experience managing commercial mechanical projects
• Experience within education or healthcare environments (desirable)
• Strong understanding of boiler plant and pipework systems
• Exposure to heat pump or decarbonisation projects advantageous
• Ability to manage project costs and budgets
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• Ability to manage multiple live sites across the North West
Candidates with slightly less experience will be considered at a lower salary level.
