Crynodeb

The post holder will work autonomously within the multi-disciplinary team assisting the Gastroenterology Consultants in Inpatient and Outpatient management of patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. The post holder will have responsibility for the assessment, planning and organisation of a broad range of activities and programmes of care, and the development, implementation and evaluation of individualised care needs. The post holder will participate in clinical audit in this specialised area, ensuring development and progression of practices and guidelines within this environment. The post holder will be accountable for their nursing practices delivered to the patient and will be responsible for their own professional development, adhering to the policies and protocol of the Trust and the regulatory body for the nurse (NMC). The post holder will provide specialist clinical support, advice and information to the highestpossible standard of evidence based, patient-centered care for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The post holder will play a significant role in setting and maintaining clinical standards and guidelines, ensuring the provision of an effective, caring and compassionate service is provided to patients across both sites. The post holder is required to work as an autonomous practitioner, provide leadership, and be a source of clinical expertise and professional advice. The post holder will work closely with the Gastroenterology Consultants and be responsible for the specialised nursing management of a defined specialist nurse caseload within which professional and clinical leadership skills will be demonstrated. The role requires practice that involves higher levels of judgement and clinical decision-making and therefore the post holder must keep up to date with professional and clinical developments in nursing and the specialist areas of care.
