What you’ll be doing as a Sous Chef
-
Supporting and deputising for the Head Chef in the day-to-day leadership of the kitchen operation
-
Leading service with confidence, ensuring dishes are prepared, cooked, and presented to the highest standards and in line with brand specifications
-
Driving consistency, quality, and pace during busy services, functions, and events
-
Creating and developing seasonal menus and exciting specials that are both profitable and memorable
-
Managing stock control, ordering, GP targets, and waste management to ensure commercial success
-
Coaching, mentoring, and developing Chef de Parties and Commis Chefs, building a motivated and high-performing brigade
-
Maintaining exceptional food hygiene, allergen management, and health & safety standards at all times
-
Working collaboratively with the wider hotel team to deliver outstanding guest experiences across restaurant, bar, room service, and conference & banqueting
What’ll make you a great fit for this Sous Chef role
-
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous within a quality hotel or high-volume restaurant environment
-
Confident leader who can motivate a team and take full control of the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
-
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
-
Commercial awareness with an understanding of cost control, margins, and labour management
-
Creative flair with a passion for modern, guest-focused food
-
A hands-on approach and a “lead by example” mentality
-
Self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to delivering brand standards
-
Hard-working – but FUN!
The benefits
-
Discounts across retail, restaurants, and events
-
Family and Friends discounts across our hotel estate
-
International employee rates across IHG branded hotels worldwide
-
Free meals on shift – because hard work is hungry work
-
Uniform provided
-
Clear progression opportunities across the UK and internationally
-
A supportive team culture within a globally recognised hospitality brand
If you’re ready to take ownership, inspire a team, and help deliver memorable dining experiences in one of Manchester’s leading 4? hotels, we’d love to hear from you.
