The role
To manage and coordinate watch trade engineering tasks on 825 Naval Air Squadron’s fleet of Wildcat HMA Mk2 aircraft, ensuring efficient task progression, accurate technical oversight, and effective communication across the Watch. The role provides specialist trade advice, supports engineering decision-making, and maintains the highest standards of airworthiness and maintenance practice in support of Wildcat Maritime Force’s mission to lead the world in embarked Maritime Attach helicopter operations.
Key Responsibilities
To work in liaison with the Avionics Trade Lead to supervise aircraft maintenance and undertake fault diagnosis.
To manage maintenance documentation and records ensuring accurate completion of all maintenance data.
To promote safety by adhering to engineering safety procedures during maintenance activities and ensuring that their team does the same.
To assist Avionics Trade Petty Officer and Chief Petty Officers in the completion of MF760/765.
To take part in Squadron Pilot debriefs associated to aircraft faults within their trade boundaries.
To lead and mentor Air Engineering trainees.
About You
A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
Experience conducting or supporting aircraft maintenance activities on the Wildcat HMA Mk2 aircraft.
Experience supervising engineering personnel in the completion of tasks and managing progress in a fast-paced environment.
Experience of the supervision of maintenance and fault diagnosis within the avionics trade on the Wildcat HMA Mk2 aircraft.
Effective leadership and communication skills which should include the ability to accurately describe tasks and the associated safety requirements, mentor trainees, receive verbal aircrew de-briefings.
Ability to assess engineering problems, escalating where beyond the scope of their knowledge or authority, particularly when under time-pressure.
The individual must have undertaken LAET QC and have had previous experience as a Supervisor of aircraft maintenance, ideally on the Wildcat HMA Mk2 aircraft.
Training
Wildcat Mk2 Avionic Supervisor (FAS601WT), 8wks and Wildcat Mk2 OME Supervisor Course (FAS607WT), 2wks, both at RNAS YEOVILTON – These courses may be waived by the Squadron Level J authorized engineer depending on the time since the applicant last worked on Wildcat HMA Mk2.
Additional training, including on aviation electronic recording systems (e.g. GOLDesp) will also be provided based on the prior experience of the successful applicant.
Salary & benefits
Salary: £41,772-£45,484 per year.
Pension: automatic enrolment in the non-contributory Armed Forces Pension Scheme 2015 (optout available).
Leave: 30 days’ annual leave plus eight UK bank holidays.
