We have an opportunity for a Commercial Business Advisor to join our team. This role will be based in Basingstoke with travel to other offices as and when required. This role manages SNG’s day-to-day relationships with materials suppliers, overseeing the performance of van stock, equipment hire, PPE, and waste management services.
You will work with operational teams to drive compliance, reduce waste, improve productivity, and ensure value for money. The role also focuses on building strong supplier partnerships to secure timely delivery, effective waste management, and innovative, future-ready solutions.
The Role:
Your responsibilities will include:
· Manage the sourcing, supply, and performance of materials, PPE, equipment hire, and waste services to support maintenance and refurbishment works.
· Ensure materials are procured compliantly, delivered on time, and controlled effectively to minimise waste, loss, and unnecessary cost.
· Maintain accurate inventory, stock levels, and e-trading systems to support job costing, invoicing, and reporting.
· Coordinate the safe delivery, storage, and movement of materials across sites.
· Support budget management by monitoring material usage, costs, and identifying savings opportunities.
· Build and manage strong supplier relationships, ensuring quality, value for money, and contract compliance.
· Work closely with operational teams to forecast demand, improve performance, and reduce waste.
· Ensure all materials and processes meet health, safety, and regulatory standards.

To be successful in this role you'll need:
Essential:
· Experience in materials management and van stock control.
· Skilled in managing supplier performance and driving continuous improvement.
· Proven ability to implement processes with suppliers to improve efficiency, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
· Strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working collaboratively in a team.
Desirable:
· Experience in the social housing sector
