Summary
As an Assistant Surveyor, you will work alongside qualified Surveyors on various client sites in the North East and assist with domestic, commercial and industrial asbestos surveys.
With no prior experience required, this is an exciting opportunity to step into a new career, where you will learn about industry and asbestos in detail. Following a six-month review of your progress, there will be opportunities for suitable candidates to progress into Asbestos Analyst and Asbestos Surveyor positions, dependent on suitability and upon completing internal training and successful exam passes.
List of duties
Assist on a range of asbestos surveys from re-inspection to refurbishment and demolition
Travel to and work at various client sites which include domestic properties, universities, offices, hospitals, retail stores, restaurants, schools, factories, warehouses etc.
Develop a full understanding of legislation surrounding surveying
Assist with bulk sampling
Equipment set up - scaffolding, cherry pickers, ladders etc.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public
Skill Set
Excellent communication skills with the ability to talk to clients and colleagues at all levels
IT skills - experienced in the use of tablets, PCs, Excel
Punctual, reliable and well organized
Inquisitive by nature and eager for continual learning
Ability to work in a team and take direction from a Lead Surveyor
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and away from home
Understanding of construction sector/trades is beneficial
Must have a full UK Driving license & own vehicle
Health, Safety and Security:
All employees have a duty to report any accidents, complaints, defects in equipment, near misses and untoward incidents, following AEC procedures.
To ensure that Health and Safety legislation is complied with at all times, including COSHH, Workplace Risk Assessment.
Confidentiality:
All information relating to the company and staff gained through your employment with AEC is confidential.
Training:
Managers are required to take responsibility for their own and their staff's development.
All employees have a duty to attend all mandatory training sessions as required by AEC.
Any other general requirements as appropriate to the post.
A bespoke training plan will be created as appropriate to the post.
