We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has a passion for the delivery of high quality, patient focused care. You will support the Nurse Practitioner Team Leader, Lead Nurse, Matrons and Senior Sisters within all wards in the CSUs to provide expert, holistic care of high standards to both the patients and their relatives. The successful candidate will work Out of Hours alongside the current Nurse Practitioners and the medical team. The role is multifaceted including bed management, staff management and clinical assessment responsibilities. The role covers nights 7 days a week and also weekends and bank holiday days. The Out of Hours Nurse Practitioner Service provides support, advice and clinical expertise to 14 wards/areas out of hours and is mostly an autonomous role. Candidates will have significant experience at Band 5, ideally within the speciality, and be able to demonstrate good leadership qualities, an ability to work autonomously, an ability to work efficiently and effectively, excellent prioritisation skills and ideally extended clinical skills such as cannulation, venepuncture, catheterisation, ECGs, ABGs and Line Bloods. A commitment to personal professional development as well as that of team members and the service is required. You will be required: To assess deteriorating patients on the wards out of hours and be a contact for escalation of deteriorating patients. You will be required to work collaboratively with the Medical Team to ensure appropriate management plans are put in place. You will be carrying the emergency crash bleep for Lincoln wing and Bexley wing and be expected to attend and participant the resuscitation of the unwell patient. To act as the senior nurse out of hours, ensure appropriate staffing levels within individual wards, respond to complaint, support the ward staff to deliver high quality care and maintain the ward rosters. You will be required to uphold standards and promote best practice out of hours. The successful candidate will support the senior nursing teams to robustly manage the wards and support all members of the Nursing teams You will be required to manage beds across AMS working closely with the CSM out of hours. To act as a positive role model to all staff. Particular emphasis is on the need to ensure that all staff recognises their responsibility to deliver services in a high quality, courteous, patient focused manner, and to maintain patient confidentiality at all times. To assess the wards staffing levels and skill mix to ensure they have the most appropriate skills and competencies to ensure the wards are staffed safely and patients are safe. This may mean at times or on occasions there may be a need for you to staff the wards either for a full shift or to support during busy times.
