Carterton Community College is entering an exciting new chapter under new leadership. We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Teacher of Drama who believes passionately in the power of the performing arts to transform young people’s lives. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and creative practitioner to shape drama within the school and to lead engaging productions, performances and showcase events that celebrate student talent and ambition.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

• Deliver high-quality Drama teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 and 5.
• Inspire students through creative drama productions, performances and showcase events.
• Contribute to the ongoing redesign and development of an enriching Drama curriculum.
• Foster a love of learning and self-expression through performing arts.
• Play an active role in the wider life of the school, including extra-curricular activities, clubs and productions.
• Work collaboratively alongside other Performing Arts.

• Has strong subject knowledge and a commitment to high standards of teaching and learning.

• Is eager to be involved in the wider life of the school community.

Curriculum Summary

Drama

At Key Stage 3, our focus is to provide students with strong foundational skills through exploring drama through a range of practical, experiential and theoretical contexts. Students will study literature and media texts, engaging with them creatively through innovative devised pieces, and analytically through written responses and theatre reviews.

At Key Stage 4 and 5, all students follow the AQA GCSE Drama specification.
