Join us as a Litigator, Employment Lawyer

What you'll do

As a Litigator, you’ll use your expertise to prepare cases, submissions, productions, statements and witnesses before the employment tribunal hearings. You’ll be negotiating with external bodies and other representatives for each case, while working closely with other colleagues in the department to make sure that wider issues from cases are handled by the relevant colleagues.

Day-to-day, you’ll also be:

  • Researching and preparing ET3 forms and making sure that responses are submitted on time
  • Instructing and liaising with the counsel in order to deliver cost effectiveness
  • Representing the client in hearings
  • Preparing, lodging and presenting appeals

The skills you'll need

To join us in this role, you’ll need knowledge of legal issues surrounding employment law and litigation. We’re also looking for someone with strong advocacy skills with the ability to effectively persuade, influence and represent in courts and tribunals.

Along with this, you’ll need:

  • A legal qualification and current practising certificate issued by a an appropriate Legal Regulator, such as Solicitor’s Regulation Authority, Law Society of Scotland or otherwise
  • Extensive knowledge of employment law and tribunal practice
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of decision making and problem solving in a risk assessment environment
  • Good organisational and planning skills
  • A high degree of organisational and business awareness as well as strong commercial acumen
