Summary

The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are two of the UK's most popular heritage railways, located in the heart of picturesque Snowdonia. We operate trains daily from late March to the end of October.

We are looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic individual to join our team working in our Porthmadog Booking Office.

We can offer you:
• National Living / Minimum Wage for age
• Seasonal contract from 21st March 2026 to 31st October 2026
• Flexible shifts to suit candidate: minimum 2 days per week, maximum 5 days per week, weekdays and weekends; or weekends and school holidays
• The pro rata equivalent of 28 days paid holiday, inclusive of all bank and public holidays

This is predominately an administrative post, with duties including taking bookings by telephone, processing bookings and answering enquiries face to face, by telephone and by email. Counter duties to include greeting customers, selling tickets and giving information will also be included therefore experience of cash handling would be beneficial. Experience of working in a similar role would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided, however candidates must be familiar with working with computer systems and email.

Core Skills:
• Must be numerate, literate and have good computer skills
• ‘Front of House’ position so good communication skills and a cheerful disposition are essential
• Experience of working in an administrative role is desirable
• Smart appearance following dress code
• The ability to speak Welsh would be an advantage as would knowledge of the railways and their passengers; and the local area.
