Summary

School Payroll Manager

Secondary School – Wembley
Full-Time | Permanent | Immediate Start Available
Salary: £35,000 – £50,000 (dependent on experience)

KPI Education is proud to be partnering with a highly regarded secondary school in Wembley to appoint an experienced and detail-oriented School Payroll Manager. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity offering a competitive salary of £35,000 – £50,000, dependent on experience.

This thriving and well-respected school is known for its strong leadership, supportive working culture, and commitment to operational excellence. As part of a dedicated finance and operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and accurate delivery of payroll services across the school.

The Role

The School Payroll Manager will take full responsibility for managing and overseeing the school’s payroll function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency at all times. You will work closely with the School Business Manager, HR team, and external payroll providers where applicable.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing end-to-end monthly payroll for teaching and support staff
• Ensuring compliance with HMRC, Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), and Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) regulations
• Processing starters, leavers, contract changes, overtime, and statutory payments
• Reconciling payroll reports and managing payroll queries
• Supporting budget forecasting in collaboration with the finance team
• Maintaining accurate financial and personnel records
• Assisting with year-end procedures and audit requirements
• Ensuring confidentiality and GDPR compliance at all times

The Ideal Candidate

To be considered for this role, you must have prior experience working within a school-based finance role and demonstrate a clear understanding of the education payroll landscape.

The successful candidate will have:

• Proven payroll management experience within a primary or secondary school
• Strong knowledge of TPS and LGPS pension schemes
• Experience using school finance and payroll systems (e.g., SIMS, FMS, Access, or similar)
• Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• The ability to manage sensitive information with discretion

A relevant payroll or finance qualification would be advantageous but is not essential for candidates with strong practical experience in a school setting.

Why Join This School?

• Highly regarded and well-managed secondary school
• Supportive leadership and collaborative finance team
• Competitive salary package (£35k–£50k DOE)
• Opportunity to take ownership of a key operational function
• Immediate start available

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced School Finance Officer or Payroll Officer ready to step into a management role, or an established Payroll Manager seeking a new challenge within a reputable Wembley secondary school.
